A  note about the 2013 season:

Thanks to all for your interest and support over the past five seasons.  We have really enjoyed meeting many wonderful folks from all over the world.    Unfortunately, we are not planning to operate the vacation rental next summer.  The property is on the market and has been rented in the meantime to monthly tenants.  If by any chance you are interested in purchasing the property and the business please see the 'Contact' page and let us know.  Thanks again to everyone!


Welcome to Seward!   We offer two comfortable, fully equipped lodging units, conveniently located midway between Seward's historic downtown and the Seward boat harbor, where tour and fishing charters depart.  We think you'll find these lodgings to be a practical, comfortable alternative to hotel or motel rooms where you can relax, cook your own dinner if desired, and enjoy a home away from home while on vacation in Seward.  Families and groups especially appreciate having a complete home or suite available for their enjoyment.  

Wireless internet service is available in both the House and Suite.

The Main House

Our historic Main House is one of four built by the Alaska Engineering Commission around 1916.  Kits for the construction were barged in from the outside.  The building project was part of an effort by the federal government to develop the southern terminus of what is now the Alaska Railway.

The house has been completely renovated and upgraded.  It features a living room, dining room, bath with shower, two bedrooms, each has a queen-size bed, and one has an additional twin bed.  There is also a newly remodeled fully equipped kitchen.  It can accommodate up to five people.  Wireless internet access, cableTV, DVD player, stereo, barbeque, and even a piano are available for your entertainment.

The Terrace Suite

The Terrace Suite was added in 2006 and features a fully equipped kitchen, bath, dining area, and living room with views of Mt. Marathon to the west.  In addition, there is cableTV, DVD player, stereo, barbeque, and wireless internet access.  The Suite offers three bedrooms with views of Resurrection Bay and Mount Alice.  Two bedrooms have queen-size beds, and the third has two twin beds which can be made up into a king if desired.  

The Suite can accomodate up to six people.  

All Suite bedrooms have individual heat controls, closets, and heavy curtains to block the late (and early) Alaska sun, if needed.

Our Policies
  • Marathon Terrace is 100% smoke-free.  Smoking is of course permitted outside.
  • Please remove shoes in the entry.
  • Check-in time is 4pm.
  • Check-out time is 11am.
  • Please wash all dishes prior to checkout.
  • Maid Service is on a per-stay basis in order to help preserve your privacy and our local resources.   If you are staying  more than 3 nights you may request fresh towels and/or a change of bed linens if desired.
  • Reservations may be confirmed with Visa, MasterCard, or Discover.  Your card will be charged in full for the reservation 30 days prior to arrival.  Your receipt will be emailed to you on request. Your card information is secure with us and will never be stored on any computer. 
  • CANCELLATIONS:  Cancellations received more than thirty (30) days before arrival will be credited less a $20.00 processing fee.  Cancellations received fifteen (15) to thirty days prior to arrival will be credited  50% of the total cost of the reservation.  Reservations cancelled less than fifteen days prior to arrival will be charged the full cost of the reservation, less any nights which can be rebooked.  We recommend travel insurance to protect against emergencies.
  • Pets are not permitted.  Service animals are permitted by prior arrangement.
  • Fish cleaning is not permitted on the premises.  Specially designed fish cleaning facilities are available at the boat harbor.  For professional cleaning, packing, freezing, and shipping, see "J-Dock Seafood" on the Links page.
  • Our full rental agreement will be provided prior to confirming your reservation.
